Designed by Lemnos in collaboration with Takenobu Igarashi, the Earth Clock features a stocky spherical design that's at once offbeat and charming. The design mimick's Igarashi's Ball Clock, originally designed in 1987 and reissued for the 21st century. Each clock is handmade in Takaoka City, Japan, by a skilled craftsman using a traditional sand-casting technique. Think of it as your own personal magic 8-ball, eyeball, or, yes, Earth.
Takenobu Igarashi is a graphic designer and sculptor working in wood, stone, metal, terra cotta, and stained glass. Among his many projects are a calendar axonometric projection calendar installation at the MoMA, logos for Suntory Hall Japan and Calpis Japan, and many typographies.
