Past Present Projects is an organization that creates contemporary arts programming in partnership with historic sites. The Past Present magazine is a quarterly publication that is released in conjunction with their exhibitions.
Issue No. 2 dives into projects that make history visible through imagery, light, color, sound, and material culture. Starting with a 20-page feature on the 2022 Venice Biennale by Leila Cartier, who highlights select installations that express themes of “past and present.” and moving through Maria Dumlao's summer exhibition at The Schuylkill Center in Philadelphia’s woodsy outskirts. This issue’s Studio Visit hangs out with Linda Gail Sanders as she paints an interior mural honoring 19th century African American historical figures. They also virtually visit exhibitions at Hancock Shaker Village and the Fabric Workshop and Museum, and offer takes on fiction, poetry, and music.
