For the first time ever, the Hobonichi Techo has teamed up with Natal Design, a pioneer in outdoor fashion! Natal Design is a brand that was established in Tokyo in 1999. The brand interprets tradition, trends, and art through its own unique lens, creating products that break free from convention with humor and edge. They continue to craft playful, original pieces that inspire excitement in the people who wear them.
From designer Koji Tsukada: "The inspiration came from a swallow motif I saw on a piece of vintage pottery, which I really liked. Swallows have traditionally been seen as a symbol of good luck, after all. Goto Shinsuke (director of Natal Design) and I have known each other since we were classmates in junior high, but I guess we’re getting to the age where we want to start wearing patterns like that (laughs). In fact, he’s wearing it right now, and we’ve been using the motif on more and more Natal Design products, including bags, mats, and apparel. Now that it’s on the techo, the dotted swallow motif has come through beautifully, resulting in a sharp design."
