Never Skimp on Time and Effort

Never Skimp on Time and Effort

Welcome The Superior Labor, bags and daily carry accessories by former auto mechanic turned leather craftsman, Makoto Kawai.

Known for their high level of craftsmanship, The Superior Labor's (TSL) own labels state they "never skimp on time and effort". When you hold a TSL item in your hands, the claim is evident. With heavy duty painted canvas, thick leathers, and choice custom hardware, to own a TSL bag or wallet is to have a prized possession that only becomes better with time.

Once a curious child in his grandfather's factory, soaking up the sights and smells of metal drilling, burning iron and oil, Mr. Kawai found himself as an adult working as an auto mechanic. In the mid 90s, he went to the U.S. for secondhand clothes shopping and met a leather craftsmanship, which led to his current job. Now he crafts The Superior Labor goods from a renovated schoolhouse and grounds on a mountain in the Okayama countryside.

While many bags in our selection are made of waterproofed nylon, with padded tech pockets or pack-down travel features, The Superior Labor goes in a different direction. Somehow, you can tell these handwrought items will wear handsomely. They are simply beautiful, tactile, durable treasures made to serve you well. And now you don't have to travel to the mountains to experience them.A Superior Label tag inside the bag
